This 10th century Celtic cross is associated with King Samson. The
intricate key patterns, triple knots, and distinctive wheel and
pillar design proclaim this an outstanding example of its kind.

This unparalleled 10th century Celtic
cross is located at Cairn Engeli, "the Mount of
Angels", at the church founded by St. Brynach, a 6th century
saint who came to Wales from Ireland. On a clear day, one can
actually see Ireland from the mountain's summit across the sea.
It is constructed in the wheel cross on a shaft style common in
Welsh Celtic monuments and includes Celtic solar designs such as
the wheel itself and the turning wheel design, thought to
symbolize the movement of the sun and of energy. There are also
labyrinth and Celtic knotwork patterns throughout the cross. The
cross itself seems to suggest a devoutly praying robed figure in
an abstract way.
